{ethan turns one}

Ethan is growing up too quickly.  

Remember when your parents used to say that the years just flew by?  Meanwhile, you were thinking that waiting five minutes to open your birthday presents was a lifetime?  I dont know when or how it happened, but it seems like just yesterday that I found out Rebecca was pregnant.  Does that mean I'm a "real adult" now?!

Ethan's first birthday party had an adorable - DIY - dinosaur theme.  The kids seemed to love playing with the toys on the carpet and the adults loved all the cute dino-themed food names (since, as you can imagine, most of the adults spent the majority of the time in the kitchen; isnt that how all children's parties go?).  Rebecca made T-Rex sugar cookies for everyone to take home.  Since she always claims to lack creativity, I was extremely impressed!  Check them out - they look like they were store-bought!

My favorite part of the party, hands down, was the cake smash.  When the cake came into his view, Ethan's eyes grew so large that the Grinch's measurement device would have certainly shattered.  If I captioned the photo, it would be something like, "That's for ME!?"  When it was placed in front of him, Ethan picked tiny pieces of the icing up and tasted it; it was almost like he was savoring each bite.  After a few seconds, Rebecca took his hand and SMASHED it through the whole cake.  Ethan immediately covered himself in icing and ate more cake than I would have ever imaged possible.  Hey, it was his birthday! 

It was a great party with lots of amazing people.  I am happy I was there to document it!
