We had a blast at this gorgeous backyard wedding in Kinsale, Virginia. (Um, can this be our backyard, please?) The night before the wedding, we "glamped" with the bride-to-be and her wedding party at a nearby cabin on the water. It was so fun to get to know everyone in a totally different way than we normally have the opportunity to do! 

After the wedding, we asked Ben to answer a few questions for our blog and we cant help but share this adorable couple's story - from the day they met to their wedding day! Enjoy!

Sarah + Ben's Wedding! | 04.15.17

We had been dating for a little over 3.5 years when we got engaged. We met when I was working at the Nordstrom e-bar in Tysons Corner and she was shopping there. She paid her sister $20 to give me her number. I like to say I was bought. haha 

I have a river house in southern Maryland that has been in my family for about 105 years. After a couple weeks of knowing her, I learned she has a river house in Kinsale, VA (by the northern neck - and where we got married). She pulled it up on google maps and I zoomed out a little. Ironically, her river house is directly across the Potomac River from my house. 

Each summer we go to another lake house in northern Michigan which has been in my family for 110 years. We love picking raspberries and visiting nearby vineyards. We enjoy taking our black miniature schnauzer, Sophie, who has an abundance of personality and sass, on walks.

I loved that I could look around the yard from one place and see different cohorts of people hanging out and having a great time. I like this because there were so many great places for people to socialize and it was almost like a TV show switching back and forth from scene to scene, from the swing, to the corn hole boards, to the dock, to Maisy, the family dog, doing Goose things (probably looking for scraps) or posing for a photo.

A lot of people say it's hard to take things in during your wedding day, but it seemed like at any given time there were 10 things going on to take in

What were your top 5 favorite moments from your wedding?

Welp let's start off with how gorgeous Sarah looked. Next the food, it was next level. Taking a photo with all my guy friends from different stages of growing up. Having all my family and friends there was amazing, and being so genuinely welcomed into my new part of the family (yes I knew they already liked me, but this was a different feeling). Photography was a critical part of our wedding day

I love photography and freezing time for memories, so I think it will make a huge difference. We haven't printed an album yet because Photos from the Harty delivered about 1500 amazing photos and we can't narrow down the list of photos to print to a smaller than phone book size album.

In all seriousness, having artistic wedding photographers was one of our best decisions. Memories will fade, but photos will re-energize them and bring you back to the special day.
