University of Maryland holds a special place in our hearts
Ahhhh, University of Maryland... This school holds a special place in our hearts because we grew up in the area and have a lot of friends that went there, not to mention it's the school where Katie's parents met. As for Sara, she graduated from Maryland, as well (not as recently as Sundi, but that's okay)! lol
When Sundi reached out to us about taking her senior portraits, we were so excited! We have known her for ages, but hadn't seen her in a pretty long time! We met through figure skating and spent tons of time together from childhood into high school. It was great to not only photograph her, but catch up, too!
Sunday is not only a figure skater - she is also a photographer, painter, and dancer. Most of her artistic experiences revolve around her 3D work, but she is crazy creative. For her final art show at UMD, she created a painting, "Phoenix", that is simply stunning. The vibrant colors and smooth strokes that surround the phoenix create a great deal of We were lucky to have a few moments to check it out and photograph her with the painting.
She was on the synchronized skating team, which sounds pretty incredible to us. How cool is it that UMCP offers that?! In our experience, there are not many schools that have a synchronized skating team. Not to mention that they are AMAZING!
Although she has graduated now, she has definitely been keeping busy with her "big girl" job at Jibe in Washington, DC; she "helps make software that helps companies in their quest for hiring employees, tracking data for where their candidates come from, employee referrals, etc." Pretty rad, right? And, the best part? Their office has beanbags chairs, walking desks (like a treadmill where you walk and work at the same time - what?!), and a cute little room where people sneak away to have mini dance parties...okay, we don't know about that last one for sure, but after seeing a few pictures of what her office looks like, we can only imagine that's what it would be used for!
We love how this girl's photos turned out and are so proud to call her one of our University of Maryland - AND Photos from the Harty - graduates! Congrats, Sundi!!!
Congrats, Sundi! We couldn't be more proud of you - and we cannot wait to see what the future has in store for you! :)

Photos from the Harty, a team of lifestyle, wedding, and event photographers, was founded by Sara (Hartenstine) Alepin in 2005 after she graduated with a BA in Art Studio & Education and began working on her MFA in Photography & Digital Imaging. After years of working together, Katie Lingan officially joined the team as lead photographer in 2013.
Over the years, we've learned a lot from capturing - and being a part of - all types of special moments, especially weddings. One thing that has really stuck with us: it's not only important that you love our images - you must also love your photographer. You will spend more time with us on your wedding day than anyone else. So, it's important that you enjoy being around us on your big day!
So, keep reading to get to know us better. If you like what you read and like what you see, please reach out to us. We look forward to meeting you!
